Mendota Elementary School

Principal's Message

Mendota Elementary School

Welcome to the 2016-17 School Year!

It is with great pleasure that I write my first welcome message to our Mendota Elementary Community. I am extremely proud and humbled to be your principal, as we embark on our journey to enrich the lives of your children. I come to MES from McCabe Elementary where I taught and was a GIS for the past 16 years. This experience has taught me how unbelievable our Mendota community is and continues to be in assisting us to achieve to our highest potential.

Since Mendota Elementary is a brand new school (3 year) we will entrench ourselves in our mission of building traditions that promote excellence in every classroom and activities that we offer to you and your children.

Our school has 35 certificated teachers all dedicated to ensuring that your child receives the best classroom experience. In addition, we have 22 classified and cafeteria staff that assist us with the learning and supervision both inside and outside of the classroom. Their contributions are sincerely appreciated and their efforts do not go unnoticed. Although biased by the nature of our relationship, I can proudly say that I have the finest administrative team in the district. My Vice-Principal is Mr. Garica, my Guidance Instructional Specialist is Mrs. Salazar and my site coach is Mrs. Valadez. My right hand person and our office manager is Ms. Sylvia Renteria.

Our core mission for this year will be to ensure that your child receives the best education by building literacy through the use of RTI, Accelerated Reader, Speech and Debate, Drama, Bi-literacy, and more. We will continue to foster Math through the use of our common core state standard curriculum and our focus will be geared towards writing and the writing process through the use of technology.  We are a one to one technology based school site.  We also promote character counts through the use of PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) and are working towards a Gold Level Award. We are fortunate to have an afterschool program directed by Mrs. Vasquez that services first through sixth grade.  We welcome parent involvement through School Site Council, Parent Nights, FCOE Parent Workshops and more.

As a final thank you; I would like to thank Dr. Paul Lopez and our Board of Trustees for allowing me to be in the Principal’s chair. I take this responsibility with the utmost of importance, fully knowing that you are sending me your children and are entrusting me to ensure that they receive the best education in our district and our area.

I look forward to having a wonderful school year and I also look forward to meeting all our amazing parents and families. Please make sure that you visit us so that you are able to see all of the amazing teaching and learning that will be occurring inside and outside our classrooms.

Let’s go Aztecs!
